The Undersea Company is a family owned business founded in 1975 by Captain Jack (John) Nesset as a diving and salvage service based in Port Townsend.

In 1980 the company provided sailing charters with the S/V Wand’rin’ Star.

In 1996 Captain Nesset was involved with the gold recovery from the sunken side paddle wheel steamer, Brother Jonathan, which hit a rock near Crescent City, California.  It sank July 31, 1865 with over 200 people lost. Captain Nesset’s side scan experience goes back to the 1970s and has taken him all over the world.

In 1996, the company formed Captain Jack’s and founded a Vessel Assist franchise based out of Port Townsend, with two 26 foot vessels, Negotiator and Gabriel

Then in 1998, the company provided charters and harbor tours with two more vessels, the 49 passenger vessel Olympas and 18 passenger vessel, Zebedee, the only Coast Guard inspected wood fired vessel west of Maine.

In 2004 the company added the multipurpose vessel, CASCADE, an ex-pilot boat from Port Angeles. It was extensively modified for our multi mission purpose keeping its bright red over white pilot boat paint scheme.
